Romney's Big Flip-Flop on "Obama-care."

If you haven't noticed, Mitt Romney avoids talking about his views on health care like one avoids a leper colony!! He just can't get away from the reality that President Obama's health care reform ("Obama-care") was modeled upon the health care plan he created as governor of Massachusetts. Romney's contention is that his version is better because it only affects the state of Massachusetts, and that he doesn't support a nationalized plan. Except, according to a Yahoo! article by Steven Holmes, he did support a nationalized plan!! In fact, at the height of the health care debate!! In a 2009 editorial piece for USA Today, Mitt Romney urged President Obama to use the Massachusetts version as the model for his national plan. It is simply another piece of damning evidence that Mitt Romney is nothing but a charlatan as fraudulent as a "snake-oil" salesman!!

Of course, Romney says that the Obama version is worse because it requires that everyone have some level of health care, or be provided health care at an affordable cost. The so-called "individual mandate." So, then why did he, Romney support a mandate for insurance in Massachusetts? Yep, the Massachusetts plan covers nearly 98 percent of all citizens. I'd say that's a near-mandated majority. Romney said that such a mandate is "to take responsibility" for yourself:
“First, we established incentives for those who were uninsured to buy insurance,” Romney wrote. “Using tax penalties, as we did, or tax credits, as others have proposed, encourages ‘free riders’ to take responsibility for themselves rather than pass their medical costs on to others.” "The Massachusetts reform aimed at getting virtually all our citizens insured,” Romney continued. “In that, it worked: 98 percent of our citizens are insured, 440,000 previously uninsured are covered and almost half of those purchased insurance on their own, with no subsidy.”
TPJ: If "Obama-care" is so bad, then why did Romney give the model for such a plan to President Obama? I think the Massachusetts plan is good, and is also one of the reasons why I think Obama-care is good. Doing away with "pre-existing conditions" is a huge relief and benefit to countless Americans. So, to see Romney trash it during the Republican primary because conservatives hate it makes him look like a liar for the flip-flop, a fraud for the deception and a heartless bastard for trying to prevent all Americans from benefiting from universal health care coverage that he gave to the people of Massachusetts. I can't respect a man who abandons his principles in order to win. Good thing President Obama isn't abandoning his principles when he continues to support his health care plan that ends pre-existing conditions for all Americans!!
