Article quoted by Josh Dzieza for The Daily Beast:TPJ: If Osama isn't dead and his compound wasn't raided, then where did the "treasure trove" of information they captured from his compound come from?
These people will never believe our president is legitimate because it's easier for them to believe that, than believe that a man who doesn't look like any of our previous presidents, nor has an European based name, could be our president. They see him as a reminder that their, "white bread" "Leave it to Beaver" world is dissipating. So, they are clinging to the memories of that period in an attempt to deny the new face of America.
Some of it is race related but I don't think a lot of the racist thinking is even conscious, and that is another reason why I think people are trying to find some other reason to make him illegitimate. They don't want to admit to themselves that maybe they have problems with his race. Thus, instead of admitting that they need to change, they try and pin all kinds of false charges to Obama, so they don't have to change and adapt.

Birthers moving on to becoming deathers...I had to chuckle when I read that. A commentator posed a question this evening on TV that should be asked of anyone we meet who is in denial, namely, "Are you willing to admit that President Obama is just as American as you are?" If they hedge on that, I would try my best to help them understand that they have a problem.
In my humble undersea community, there is a controversy raging about whether it was best to kill bin Laden or capture him for trial. I've stayed away from these discussions - seeing merit in both sides of the argument and a reflection of my own ambivalence. Given a choice between performing seals versus kangaroos holding court, perhaps this is the final irony fit for our times: Carp got the last of bin Laden.
BayouCane...I couldn't agree more about the hedging regarding the Obama question.
@Octopus...The whole saga has been sad but I'm glad he won't hurt anyone ever again.
