Some are criticizing Obama for taking 3 days to speak about this Christmas day terrorist attempt but how quick they forgot that it took Bush SIX days to respond after the Richard Reid "shoe bomber" attempt. Reid also was convicted on American soil (under the Bush administration) and now sits in a U.S. prison. So this right-wing talk that Obama is undermining the Constitution and putting America in danger of another terrorist attack for wanting to take these terrorists into an American court is hypocritical at best.
"There were virtually no complaints from the press or any opposition Democrats that his response [to the shoe bomber attack] was sluggish or inadequate. Democrats back in 2001, then out of power, chose not make it an issue the way that Republicans have now."
TPJ: That's because many Republicans have become so hell bent on "winning" that they are willing to go down into the gutter to gain an advantage. They think nothing of lying straight out to the American people or exploiting old people during the health care debate or exploiting peoples' fears regarding terrorism. What happened to rallying around our president? What happened to their claim during the Bush years that you're not American if you criticize the president? I don't believe Republicans are unAmerican for criticizing Obama but that's in part because I refuse to sink to the level of the Republicans. Not all Republicans, but a lot if not most.
If they want to win that bad that they're will to try and justify the means to get to the end they desire then they can have it. I'm not willing to sell my soul for politics. There is much to improve that's for sure and the Obama administration could have done better but so could have Bush. No administration is going to be able to catch all the bad guys. Sometimes they get through our security measures but shouldn't we be glad at least that they guy didn't succeed??? Yes, Democrats lie too but they don't seem to be as vicious as many on the right. Or beyond lying to the point of down right sociopathic behavior. Nor willing to kick people in the shins and balls to win an argument. At least not as often it seems to me.
