I'm fine with walking through full body scans at the airport. I know I don't have the most sexy body but I'd rather not get blown up on an airplane than be a bit embarrassed by an unflattering body image. I don't understand people who are so puritanical in this country, even to the point of risking security and personal safety over vanity. Some Muslims are saying that even these androgynous images are against their religion because they find it offensive for another to see women in an unflattering manner. However, I try to be very sensitive and accepting of Muslims and their beliefs overall. That said, I think that if you're going to live in this country during this era of terrorism that you sometimes must give up a belief in total privacy to keep everyone safe. That goes for anyone who might have similar beliefs including Christians and simply those who don't want anyone to see their fat rolls. The level of narcissism and me-ism in this country makes people think that they should have special rights at an airport because they don't want anyone to see their body. You're not the only one flying so suck it up and get in line. Your prudishness, vanity and narcissism have to take a back seat when the lives of hundreds of others depends upon you following the rules of flying like everyone else. Do you honestly think the rest of us want to be inconvenienced too??? No, of course not but this is the reality of flying in today's world. Besides, when you fly on an airplane you are flying only because the airline, which is a private business allows you to. Just like any other business they retain the right to refuse service. So put on your big boy or big girl undies and walk through the damn machine!! It would have caught this Nigerian clown with the material wrapped around his waist in his underwear.
This all said, however, I don't get the rule that you can't get up to use the bathroom in the last hour before the plane lands because this Nigerian guy went to trigger his bomb in that period. It's just as easy for some radical nut-job to go into the bathroom in the middle of the flight and set off his bomb. I am all for safety but only if it makes sense and this one is just window dressing. The full body scanning, however, makes total sense. This is one that the airlines should ditch because it just makes the process of necessary measures that much more difficult.

A thermal image of genitals isn't that erotic. If it were we would have porno mags dedicated to them.
