Barack Obama Was Forged in the Furnace of the Primary.

If Barack Obama wins this election tonight and becomes President Barack Obama, which I think that he will then I think it will have been in large part because of the protracted primary battle with Hillary Clinton. Many of us Obama supporters worried that he exhausted he and his campaign. However, It helped shore up his weaknesses, bolster his strengths, loosen him up and probably the most important thing, establish strong ground games in many states that turned out to be battleground states. And so Hillary Clinton did a lot to prepare Barack Obama for the general election.

Politics uses sports analogies way too much but I'm going to use one anyway in regards to American football playoff games. Often the team (McCain) who wins their game (primary) first and has more rest ends up losing to the other team (Obama) that has been running full speed, in top form right into their next match up (the general election). The idea being that too much rest makes a team rusty, over-confident and lazy. I don't think that McCain used all the time he had before the kick-off of the general campaign to do as much as he could to set up solid bases and ground games in swing-states.
