Four on Six

A fellow American Scot tagged me and how can I turned down a brother? So the deal is that I write four things on six topics.

Four Jobs I Have Had or Currently Have in My Life:

1). Assistant Manager at the Thrift Store.
Nothing special but I got my pick of all the good stuff that came in. Plus, I'd get good tips from this one guy when I'd hook him up with items that I knew he'd want. I'd save them just for him.

2). Took Orders for a Vitamin Supply Company. Basically I just answered the phone and entered peoples' orders into the computer and answer any questions they had regarding vitamins and herbs. I learned a lot at that job and can pretty much tell you what herb to take for just about any symptom. I'm big into natural medicine and organics after that job.

3). Flow Meter Assembler. Basically a flow meter measures the flow of shit in the sewer system. It measures how much shit flows through a pipe system (we need one of those for the White House--actually probably a whole warehouse full of them). Some companies or towns, however, would order them to monitor water pressure/flow. I was hired by a company here in Colorado by the name of Hach Chemicals and flown out to Buffalo, New York to learn how to build these things and then returned home to build them on site at the main Hach plant. I'm just glad that I wasn't in the Flow Meter repair shop and yes, they do have one. You totally have to wear a HAZMAT suit to work on them. They need to do one of those "Dirty Jobs" episodes (On the Discovery Channel here in the states) on that side of the operation. Anyway, moving on...

4). Mechanical Assembler. I worked for Teledyne Water Pik--the company that makes/sells shower faucets and the like. Well, I assembled automatic tooth flossers and believe me it was a pain in the ass to put all those little parts together. That was my last job before I became disabled from the Schizo-affective disorder so now I blog and paint. I'm a full time painter I guess you could say now. The classic "starving artist."

Four Countries I Have Been to:

I can only name two: I lived in Cote D'Ivoire, West Africa for two years and I've been to Mexico as a kid. I want to travel see so many other countries though. Top of my list would have to be India to see the Buddhist holy sites. As well as China and visiting somewhere else in Africa.

Four Places I'd Rather be Right Now:

1). My secret islands. I'm keeping them a secret because I want them to remain pristine. Email if you must know.
2). Bodh Gaya, India (the supposed site of the Buddha's Enlightenment).
3). Way up high in the Rawah Wilderness area here in Colorado.
4). Kauai, Hawaii. This is where we spent out Honeymoon. My wife is from the islands.

Four Foods I Like to Eat:

1). Chinese (especially Fried Sesame Tofu with Fried Rice or Vegetable Lo Mein).
2). West African cuisine (what I would give for some Aloco (fried plantains served with a tomato pepper sauce and a boiled egg) right about now. Or some Atcheke (a couscous like substance made from cassava yams and served with fried fish and a spicy green pepper and onion paste. Now I don't eat meat anymore but I'd eat it without the fish. Damn, this is making me hungry!!)
3). Italian
4) Mexian

Four Personal Heroes-past or present:

1) Buddha
2). My Mother (and grandmother).
3) Thomas Jefferson
4). Salvador Dali
5). Bob Marley

Four Books I have Read or Are Currently Reading:

1). The Eye of the I
2). What Would Jefferson Do? A Return to Democracy
3). Tao Te Ching (the best translation I have found is the pocket edition by Stephen A. Mitchell).
4). Buddhism is Not What you Think: Finding Freedom Beyond Beliefs.

I tag whom ever wants to do this but if you do please let me know so that I can check our your answers.

I used to volunteer at a thrift store. Their money went to low cost spay and neuter for people who couldn't afford to get their pets "fixed". I loved watching the people come in and find just the right thing for their kids clothes and so forth. It was rewarding in two ways. The money went to a great cause and we were able to provide people with clothes, furniture etc that they needed but couldn't afford to buy new.

I won't be doing the tag. :)

You're welcome. Thought I'd share a bit about myself here where I usually just talk politics.
