VA Rep. Virgil Goode's Swearing in Ceremony

This post is inspired by Kvatch's post.

Rep. Keith Ellison (MN) made good on his promise to swear in on the Quran and it isn't anything less then a victory for the Constitution and the freedom of religion.

Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat, garnered international attention Thursday when he used a Quran once owned by Thomas Jefferson during his ceremonial swearing-in ceremony for the House of Representatives.

In related news:

I heard from a friend's roommates step-brother's 2nd cousin removed that Virgil Goode was going to swear on the KKK Bible the Kloran. However, apparently he decided against it in the end because is sounded too much like the Koran.

That's a great way of putting it. Who are we if not a people who live up to our convictions?

Thanks for the mention.

Kvatch my friend...you're quite welcome for the mention. I dig your blog and appreciate your wit, intelligence, humor and analysis.

It's sad that we even have to worry about DEFENDING the Constitution from zealots but I guess that's the world that we live in. It's even sadder that we have "leaders" in our highest reaches of government who don't even know the documents that they swear to protect!!
