John Edwards Fires Back on National Security Questions

But he had a ready answer this week to the question of national security experience: Bush had the most experienced team in history, and still the United States ended up in a mess in Iraq. Experience, he said, is not a guarantee of good judgment.

James: Although I am an Obama man I could easily support John Edwards should he be the Democratic nominee. I think he and Obama are very similar on a lot of issues so Edwards is a close 2nd on my list. I like his economic populist message especially and the fact that he has some integrity by saying his vote for the Iraq war was a mistake. Not many politicians can admit a mistake. Just look at Bush during the debates in the 2004 campaign.

I think Edwards is great but I just don't know what has changed since 2004 except that he is two years older. The more I think about the Dems in 2008, the more I think the nomination is Al Gore's to lose: he was robbed in 2000, has been consistently right on Iraq (unlike Hillary), and will not have a problem with either cash or name recognition... I wrote a story on this at www.minor-ripper.blogspot.com

He voted for the war. Admitting it was a mistake after the tide of national opinion had shifted is not honorable in my opinion. I say we stick with Obama. The only person in Congress with a shred of dignity is my local girl, Barbara Lee.

Happy New Year, James.

I like Edwards. He knows quite a bit and does quite a bit on poverty issues. I'd have no problem supporting him.

But I'm with Ripper ... I believe that most Dems would absolutely love for Gore to run. And I believe that enough moderates and Republicans are coming around on the issue of the environment and global warming to make a Gore presidency a realistic possibility.

I'd personally love for Gore to run.

Have you noticed that the media has "accidentally" taken to calling Obama Osama? I don't think this is an honest mistake.

Yeah, I'm sticking with Obama at this point for sure.

Dbackdad:

Gore does look better then in 2000. He has really made a great comeback. I wouldn't mind support Gore one bit.

Fashion:

Yeah I wrote a post about the name calling, etc. of Obama. The media doesn't like Obama because they want to see Hillary run. That's my theory anyway.
