Cheney Lauds Rumsfeld

By Washington correspondent Mark Simkin and Reuters

United States Vice President Dick Cheney says Donald Rumsfeld is the finest defence secretary in US history.

"I believe the record speaks for itself - Don Rumsfeld is the finest secretary of defence this nation has ever had."

GOI: Yeah, unfortunately for our brave soldiers, the record DOES speak for itself. He is one of the main reasons that we are stuck in that mess in Iraq. Remember this gem from Field Marshal von Rumsfeld when speaking about the invasion and following Iraq war??? "It is unknowable how long that conflict will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months." And who could forget this classic hit in speaking about where the WMD would be located withing Iraq. "We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."

Great record.

Then again, Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld and "the gang" have had a penchant for "fixing the facts" in the past. However, (thankfully) they aren't going to be able to "fix history" and their own bloody, incompetent, mistake-riddled legacies.

Donald Rumsfeld, I wish that we hardly knew ye but unfortunately we know you all too well.

I've been reading an interesting article in the New Yorker about how Rumsfeld was originally received as a "savior" by the Pentagon, a sentiment that was quickly dispelled. [sigh]

How quickly things change.

Yes, Dick. The record does just that. Rummy was the greatest sec def since he was installed in that position by the "worst president ever"...If I were you, Dicky, I'd not strap yourself to the winning ticket just yet.

Dick swearing anyone into office is hilarious. I wonder if he took it too literally and dropped the "F" bomb in the middle of the ceremony.
