So by now we all know that Joe Lieberman lost but won't accept the will of the voters and bow out gracefully. Instead he is going to run as an independent. This move by Joe goes a long way in telling me just how dedicated (or lack of dedication) to the Democratic party he really was/is. He is willing to split the vote and perhaps throw the whole election to the status quo Republicans for his own arrogance and greedy lust for power.Remember how Joe keep saying that he was a "real Democrat?" Well, a "REAL" Democrat would bow out and support the voters choice for the nomination. A "REAL" Democract wouldn't jump ship on "their party."
This is a perfect example of the entrenced power in Washington which feels that they deserve to stay in office no matter what and, "How dare the voters go against me" attitude.
He is so out of touch he wouldn't be able to reach out and touch his own nose. In his "concession" speech last night he said that Ned Lamont is the one out of touch with mainstream America. Yet, when it comes to the war, poll after poll show some 60% of Americans are AGAINST the war and Ned Lamont is against the way this war is being prosecuted. So who's in the mainstream again Joe???
Stop embarrassing yourself Joe and disgracing the will of the voters of the great state of Connecticut. You have no shame in your thrist for power. Please just stop. You look like an old fool who doesn't know when to give up and accept that their glory days are over. He's like the drunk guy who doesn't know when to quit drinking and stop making an ass of himself.
As Randi Rhodes said on her radio show today, (and i'm laughing my ass off typing this) he dropped a big turd in the punch bowl.
Give it up Joe. YOU LOST so please GO HOME.
If you agree with me that Joe should bow out and accept the nomination of Ned Lemont then I urge you to call or email his office or campaign and tell him to drop out of the race. Let's put the pressure on.

Let him run as an independent... he'll get crushed! They'll drop their allegiances to Joe like he's a small rock off a tall bridge! The Republicans might recruit him but they'll soon tire of their little token demboy and crush him! Either way...he's going to get crushed!
The only thing that will kill Joe is money..and although the big biz interests will toss him a few crumbs..if he can't rally the troops he is toast..
We'll see if you prognosticators are right.

No sir! He's pulling a Nader, and if he managest to suck just 2 in 5 votes from Lamont, the seat might swing to the GOP. Even if the challenger is weak.
I feel Kvatch is right. He could easily throw the election toward the Republican candidate. And I'm OK with that. This whole thing is a wake-up call for the Democratic Party. And it's about damn time. Great post, James.
Poet:
I hope he gets crushed.
Dusty:
I just hope he has enough respect for himself and others to just drop out. Talk about a sore looser.
Kvatch and PT:
I agree with you and thanks PT. :)
I emailed him on the day he lost.
Really nuts of him.
NBFH:
Right on. I hope all these emails will wake him up but he's a pretty stubborn mule.

You must not be from Connecticut. Schlesinger is polling at 15% in the most optimistic of polls, but more realistically, he's polling at less than 10%. As the former mayor of Derby (a tiny suburb of New Haven with about 13,000 residents) he's a buffoon who was lost in four attempts in races for congress, and 2 attempts on the Governer's seat. Worse than that, the GOP, including Cheney and Bush has REFUSED TO ENDORSE him.
My sense is the Lieberman will be persuaded to drop out, but even if he doesn't the stench of sour grapes (and the realization that Lamont is by no means an extremist candidate) will likely cause his supporters to stay at home in droves on election day.
Full disclosure: I have been and am working (on a volunteer basis) for the Lamont campaign.
Tommy:
Thanks for the insight. God I hope Lieberman drops out but I fear he is too stubborn.
