Albert Einstein said it best, "You cannot simutaneously prepare for and prevent war."
Thank-you to our soldiers who have gone and served our country through out history. Thank-you to the soldiers in Afghanistan.
It is especially important today to remember our troops in Iraq who have been forced to fight in a bogus war. May they be safe and return home to us in one piece and as soon as possible.
I think it is also especially important to remember the men and women who fought and died in the Revolutionary War to bring us this great country.
On this day I think it is also important to re-read The Declaration of Independence. I am going to make it a habit/tradition to re-read this historic and monumentous document every 4th of July.

Well said James. Even the, and maybe especially the, soldiers that had to fight in the "bogus" wars deserve our respect.
Good idea to read the Declaration every year...it should not be forgotten. Happy 4th.
Our country would be in a better place if our current leaders took the time to read the Declaration every year also.
Great post, James.
I love your mantra on the header of your blog.
If we speak as one, loud and clear, perhaps we won't have to do this next year.
the president should make a point to read this also...I think he missed that day on presidential candidate school
Great post and you're right we should all read the Declaration on this day. Gives so much more meaning to the day.
Peace

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I hope your holiday went well too.
And Dusty, thanks for the compliment but I can't take credit for that quote. I found it on someone else's blog but man I love it.
Great post, James. I'm going to start reading it every year myself. Thanks.
Why do we constantly treat the military as if they are some great bunch of people that are beyond reproach. What a load of horse shiite. They aren't 'forced' to do anything. They can walk away and disobey orders at anytime. Several have and I applaud them. If you want to end war, especially bogus wars then people are going to have to stop knuckling under to authority all the damn time. Military personel are just as concious and aware of the personal choices they can make in life. People walk away from spouses, children, jobs, responsibilities all the time. They exercise Free Will. If military personel didn't want to fight they wouldn't!!! Dumb ass liberals.
Is anon smoking out of the Dubya crack pipe? You can not just walk out on military service like you can a spouse..jesus what a nitwit.
