BREAKING NEWS: Rumsfeld Exposed by Former CIA Analyst in Georgia and Caught in a Lie. What a Surprise!!

Have a LISTEN.

Here is the link to the VIDEO.

Rummie DID say that he knew where the WMD were in Iraq. This from ABC's "This Week" sunday talk show from 5/4/03:

STEPHANOPOULOS: And is it curious to you that given how much control U.S. and coalition forces now have in the country, they haven’t found any weapons of mass destruction?

SEC. RUMSFELD: …We know where they are. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.

Go HERE for the full transcript.

Can we kick his ass out of the administration yet???

When is enough, ENOUGH?!!

DAMN.

Rumsfeld was hardly lying.

Perhaps he was misinformed, or had bad intelligence, but he wasn't lying.

Anon: The Syria theory is a tired old straw man arguement. There is no way of knowing if they are there or not. Just saying it so doesn't make it true.

If they were moved there then why couldn't our spy satellites notice huge trucks driving into Syria before the war?

Like I said, this is a tired old arguement.

The fact that Rummie said they would be in the north, south, east, west of Baghdad can not be interpreted that they are in Syria. If they were IN Syria then he would have said so.

AND if they REALLY are there then why don't we go in there?? We were hell bent on going into Iraq because we thought they (WMD) were there so why would we refrain from going into Syria if we know they now have those weapons???

What happened to the arguement that "they" are out to get us?" Wouldn't the "brave" Bushies want to go get them and help protect the American public and Israel??

You need more proof then that to convice me. And the fact still lies that Rumsfeld was caught in a HUGE lie today. Watch the video and LISTEN to the words he says and then LISTEN to the words he said in the ABC "This Week" interview. A direct lie.

This is even more an evident lie then Clinton parsing over what the definition of "IS," is (and I didn't like Clinton lying either!!).

Sorry I'm not buying what your selling.

Rummie also said that it "appears that there were no weapons of mass destruction" during this exchange today. That doesn't tell me that he thinks that they are in Syria.

Rummie said that maybe they were sent to Syria but he didn't know that for sure. Not exactly hard proof. Can't prove something based on an opinion.

Lame: "well, the troops thought there were chemical weapons." Post hoc ergo propter hoc bullshit.

If Rumsfeld was not lying and relied on improperly vetted bad intelligence, he is incompetent and should therefore be dismissed. If he was lying, then he is an unethical, self-serving warmonger, who unnecessarily put many troops in harm's way (2,500 dead, 15,000 wounded) and should be dismissed.

Either way you slice it, the guy has screwed the pooch monumentally, and needs to go.

Exactly. Either way he's got to go. Either he's a liar or he is incompetant or BOTH.

"well, the troops thought there were chemical weapons."

Yeah, and that's blaming the troops!! The troops who thought there were chem. weapons thought so because people like Rummie TOLD THEM SO!! STOP BLAMING THE TROOPS RUMMIE!!! They were just following orders.

Rummie makes me sick.

Sweet...and both! BTW, sort of off-topic, PTCruiser, a Bay Area blogger who's been working with the Freeway Blogger, make up a sign for an overpass that said "Rumsfailed".

Rumsfeld did say that the stuff was possibly moved. here

"I would also add, we saw from the air that there were dozens of trucks that went into that facility after the existence of it became public in the press and they moved things out. They dispersed them and took them away. So there may be nothing left. I don't know that. But it's way too soon to know. The exploitation is just starting."

Also, I don't see how trusting in the expert analysis of those whose jobs it is to give you intelligence is "incompetent."

Saddam DID have these weapons. This is simple fact. What he did with them is still a mystery and has been for years. Also, given the illegal arms sales by France to Saddam through the oil for food program, there is certainly the chance that he acquired more during the 90's.

I wasn't saying that Rumsfeld was actually saying they were in Syria, I'm saying he could have been misinformed. Just because he says one thing, then another 3 years later does not prove he was lying... it only proves he was wrong.

James,

Go here to see the discussion on this topic. I seem to be alone in arguing your point:

For one, you didn't answer my question as to whether you are the one who goes by UL (I suspect that you).

Second, in your quote "Also, I don't see how trusting in the expert analysis of those whose jobs it is to give you intelligence is "incompetent."

The problem here is that the DOD has their OWN, large intelligence gathering opporation. To say that Rummy was "flying blind" so to speak and only relying on the intelligence of the CIA is a stretch.

Third, you seem to have ignored my point on his actual words said.

Again, here is what he said in 5/4/03:

"WE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."

Now, Rummy is a smart guy and he knows full well that he said those words. Knowing that then why would he say yesterday that he DIDN'T know where they were when he openly said, WE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE???

Then you say that Rummy DID say that the weapons were moved to Syria and then quoted Rummy saying:

"So there may be nothing left. I don't know that. But it's way too soon to know. The exploitation is just starting"

This give the impression that he's going on a hunch and that is not a viable reason to make positive statements that the WMD are in Syria. And just because it was POSSIBLEY moved there doesn't mean that it IS there.

Finally, Rummy said yesterday in his speech that it "appears that there were no weapons of mass destruction."

This statement from your man completely ends the discussion on whether he thinks that there were any WMD ANYWHERE. Saying that now it appears that there are no WMD isn't anywhere near him saying NOW that they are in Syria. He may have said that there were POSSIBLEY in Syria before but he's not saying that NOW. If he was then he would have said so yesterday.

If you're not saying there are in Syria then why are you still arguing that point in your last post and then saying the opposite at the end??

Do you think Porter Goss resignation had anything to do with Rummy's troubles, coming as it did just 48 hours after a former CIA analyist went head to head with the Defense Secretary?
