Man Cheney Shot Suffers Heart Attack

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The 78-year-old lawyer who was shot by Vice President Dick Cheney in a hunting accident has some birdshot in or touching his heart and he had “a silent heart attack” Tuesday morning, hospital officials said.

The victim, Harry Whittington, was immediately moved back to the intensive care unit for further treatment, said Peter Banko, the administrator at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial in Texas.

GOI: Man, this whole thing sounds sooo fishy. Now I'm hearing that apparently the Sheriff arrived an hour after the incident and were turned away!

Now I just heard on Hardball that the White House press secretary was told not to give out the information on the heart-attack of the victim! What the F**K is going on here??? They are totally clueless that they are accountable to the American people. In blowing off the press they are also blowing off the American public. This shit storm isn't going to go away until Cheney comes clean to the press.

Something is wrong with this story when the story took so long to get out of the media. They can't just do whatever they like. They are ELECTED officials. Well, maybe not elected but SELECTED by the SCOTUS in 2000 and by supressing the vote in 2004. So maybe that goes a long way as to why this admin. feels that they can do whatever and act however they like.

This is just another fishy story in a loooooooong line of misinformation, questions, half-truths, severe incompetence and stench that has come out of this White House since DAY ONE. 9/11, WMD's, Iraq, Katrina and now Cheney. They seem to have a clinical problem with their information dissimation. We always get delayed information with severe gaps in it only after the suspicious actions have taken place! This White House just automatically covers things up. It's their knee-jerk reaction because they are flat out nefarious!! How can anyone doubt that anymore???

UN-BEE-LEE-VA-BULL. Cheney shot the guy IN THE HEART! And they let him lie around on the ground forever.

This administration is one for the record books: Caligula, Nero, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Sadam, Vlad the Impaler and Bush/Cheney. Bush and Cheney are going to make us shiver for years, even as they rate as laughingstocks for all eternity. I see Adam Sandler and Nathan Lane in the movie version of Bush/Cheney. Maybe a musical. With a big production number: "Springtime for Bushie."

smoke & mirrors, baby. smoke & mirrors. another way for the administration to deflect attention from impeachable offenses.

can you be impeached for a hunting accident? i'd think if war crimes don't qualify, manslaughter probably won't, either.

Check this out: RJ Escow in the Huntington Blog is putting the pieces together -- seriously.

Cheney and Whittington went hunting with two women (not their wives), there was some drinking, and Whittington wound up shot. ... After lots of evasive comments that only referred to a "third hunter," we now know her identity: Pamela Willeford, the US Ambassador to Switzerland. ... quote on MSNBC and picked up by Firedoglake (later dutifully scrubbed, but preserved on Google cache): "There may be a beer or two in there," ... So was Cheney drinking, and was there anything inappropriate about this hunting party? We don't know, and nobody's investigating. ...

"How can anyone doubt that anymore???"

because they will spend however much money it takes to make people doubt it

Tom: "Springtime for Bushie." Thanks for the good laugh. :)

I wear my Worst. President. Ever. Hoodie with the name Bush in an anti-slash circle when ever I can. Especially in going to Wal-Mart the Holy Land for Conservatives. I get some of the worst looks and I just smile back. That makes them scowl even MORE!! Hehe.

Andi: You are so right about smoke and mirrors to deflect attention from their impeachable offenses. Great point! They have everyone paid off and swearing loyalty oaths to them so that this kind of thing can be swept under the bed.

Tom: Thanks so much for that link. I was thinking that there was most likely alcohol involved. Cheney was probably so loaded on fine malt scotch that he was the "loose canon on deck" to use a pun.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sheriff's office was in their pocket too. Down there is small town, red state territory and cops in general seem to be Bush backers (going against their own best interests). Sooo who knows. Like you say, no one is investigating.

Michael: You're sooo right. I was going to report on their spending tons of money for "positive spin" on all the crap they do. And these red stater followers eat it up like good little children.

Sick how these Neo-cons take so much advantage of the hard-working, less educated folks in the rural commmunities.

Let me also add that something is seriously wrong in this country when the LEAST of our shame is this Cheney story. The man shoots another man in the face, doesn't notify the authorities for 14 hours, takes 4 days to get his story straight and then goes and does a canned interview with FOX instead of an enlightening press conference.

Gee, I wonder if I'd get that treatment had I shot Dick in the face on a hunting trip. Nope, I'd be headed to GITMO and no one would hear from me again. Either that or they would hang me in a public square.

Well, Whittington has now spoken -- which suggests to me that a roomful of lawyers have met and knocked out some sort of compensation deal. All we are seeing not is a playing out of Act III

1) Cheney publically says "it was all my fault."

2) Cheney is going to be forking over millions.

3) Whittington expresses regret for all the trouble.

This is all kabuki theatre. Behind the scenes, the knives are out, but for the sake of careers, there are public tears and smiles.

Now, onward to the Plame/Libby scandal. I do think there is a 50% chance that Cheney will resign before the Bush Admin is through.

Tom: I think that you're right about Cheney being forced to resign over the Plame/Libby scandal. He should have to spend jail time as well if he is found to be the leaker.

James, I think it's hilarious that now Cheney claims he is authorized to declassify US secrets.

Yeah. THIS will be his defense: That he was authorized to go after opponents of his bogus [or 'dead wrong,' at least] claim that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction and "out" a CIA operative because he was authorized to declassify any damned thing he wanted. So according to Cheneythink, he can engage at political mayhem, at will.

Cheney is Vice President. He doesn't have any rights and responsibilities, except to preside over the Senate -- which he doesn't do. His only other responsibility is to replace Bush if he dies, and not before.

Tom:

Yeah, I heard that about having "authority" as VP. Apparently anyone in the Bush admin. has the "authority" to do whatever they want now.

Reminds me of Nixon saying, "Well, when the President does it then that means it is not illegal." Only this admin. takes it one step further and says that includes the VP!!

When will they be held accountable buy all these blind Republicans. Hey, listen Repubs!! They are NOT true conservatives. They have hijacked your party and OUR country!! SO DO SOMETHING and join us in change.
