WASHINGTON - Lobbyist Jack Abramoff will plead guilty to federal charges in Washington and Miami, clearing the way for him to cooperate in a massive government investigation of influence peddling involving members of Congress, his lawyer and the Justice Department said Tuesday.
Abramoff, 46, had become one of the best known lobbyists on the Hill, employing people who had worked for lawmakers and creating close ties to the former House majority leader, Rep. Tom Delay, R-Texas.
As part of the deal, prosecutors were filing conspiracy, fraud and tax evasion charges against the embattled lobbyist, a Justice Department official said.
GOI: Now maybe we will make some head-way into investigating the shady practices of certain Congress members.

Whoa! This puts MY congressman on the hook: Doolittle!
Someday The People are going to catch on that there is something quite wrong with the Republican party and they're gonna toss the bums out.
While not every stinky congressmen is a Rep'o Man, the great majority are. Somehow I think 06 is gonna be a bad, bad year for the Right.

Yeah, I did a little looking and my most hated senator, Crazy Cornyn who has defended torture, the NSA spying, the food stamp cuts and all the other crazy crap these guys hve dreamed up, isn't in the crosshairs unless they extend the investigation back to when he was Texas AG.
Too bad, he is a pox on the Senate, hand picked by Bush to be a friendly senator.

Slate Magazine does a rundown of the congressmen/senators under the swinging razor-sharp pendulum of investigation.
The eight names are DeLay, Ney, Doolittle, Georgia lt. gov candidate Ralph Reed, Burns, Dorgan, GOP muckymuck Norquist and Hastert. But the Wall St. Journal says the number involved could be sixty.
Slate also has an article on how, supposedly, the Republicans might survive this: Reform! Smite corruption!
Tom: Yeah my Congresswoman isn't on the list but she's pretty close to the tree. She gave DeLay a good chunk of change to his legal defense fund. I think that the media has TOTALLY pushed this huge story aside. The media strikes again!
Thanks for the links by the way.
Mike: Ohhhhh you're Senator is Cornyn?? That would be depressing.
My Senator is Wayne Allard who is just another GOP lap-dog. He doesn't do anything but rubber stamp the GOP policies. Doesn't stick his neck out much at all.
