My Head Hurts

Um, does anyone know what EXACTLY Bush said last night??

I agree that it was an eloquent speech but I have no idea what he really said.

I got that he is going to spend a lot of money without repealing the tax cuts so I guess i'm wondering where all of this money will come from.

Anyway, does anyone want to explain to me what he said last night and what is good and what is bad about it all??

Sorry, my head is spinning from all of the things he has said over the last few weeks. The numbers of the deficit and the cost of rebuilding NOLA has gotten out of the realm of my understanding of financial politics.

Is he FDR now or an wolf in FDR's clothing??

I guess I am very, very leary and quite worried that since the Bush administration can't get Iraq right, why would we have hope that they will get the Gulf Coast rebuilding right?

I don't know.

So have at it and help me make a least a little sense of it all.

try this perspective:

Discussing the work needed in New Orleans, Bush said last night: "We will do what it takes. We will stay as long as it takes." Discussing the work needed in Iraq, Bush said in November 2003: "We will do what it takes. We will not leave until the job is done."

Yeah, starting to sound like left-overs warmed over.

does it really matter where the money comes from or if he makes any sense?? he's not running for re-election...he's just counting the days.

uh...Jules...

It matters to me, because when he leaves, his problems and his decisions don't leave with him. They are quite possibly forever. We'll be paying off his deficits long after I'm dead. We are borrowing money, what if they Chinese decide to stop buying our bonds?

Furthermore, what if the American people are ignorant enough to vote in another like him?

He does have a legacy to worry about and the looming threat of a possible impeachment.

All that aside, I am happy that he is spending tons of money to rebuild the Gulf Coast but this is where the Iraq mistake is going to really hurt us.

"Guns and butter" spending is almost impossible.

That being said you HAVE to spend money to rebuild the area but now I just heard that MSNBC that 40 states have declared emergencies to get some of this money.

Our budget has just flown out the window faster then a sparrow and is being caught by China who are ever increasingly in charge of our debt.

i am having a hard time with the fact that i am now agreeing with the fiscally conservative republicans who are (along with several democrats) calling for more responsibility and accountability in terms of how federal funds (taxpaerys' money) is spent in the coming years.

hm. how accountable do you think this admin will be, esp if karl rove is put in charge of reconstruction?

you make the call.

yeah, I am VERY nervous about how accountable this administration will be with all this spending. It appears that they are trying to spend their way out of bad poll numbers.
