The latest spin coming out of the White House is that the Gov. of Lousiana Kathleen Blanco acted too late in asking for federal aid. Infering therefore that she (Blanco) is at fault for the lack of response in the aftermath to hurricane katrina.
Here is a very, very detailed time-line to prove that the governor asked for federal help well before the hurricane even made landfall. TIMELINE.
I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend reading this timeline. It is well put together and very detailed and it proves that gov. blanco did everything that she could have done to prepare and deal with this hurricane. She called in the federal government ASAP because she knew that she was going to need more resources but the federal government failed her and the people of her state.

In other news, a subsidiary of Halliburton has been awarded a contract to rebuilt parts of the gulf coast:
A Halliburton Co. subsidiary that has come under fire for its reconstruction work in Iraq has begun tapping a $500 million Navy contract to do emergency repairs at Gulf Coast naval and Marine facilities that were battered by Hurricane Katrina.
GOI: I certainly do not have a problem with emergency repairs being done at Gulf Coast naval and Marine facilities. However, given Halliburton's dubious past could we not find someone else to do this???
Also heard on the Randi Rhodes show that the FEMA hotline will disconnect you because the lines are too busy. They won't even ask you to wait for the next available person they just disconnect you.
Nice.

Regrettably to say, she is at fault. As is that wortless nigrag mayor they've got there.
How dare anyone question the wisdom and might of our Lord and Savior George W. Bush.
I'm just going to go ahead and assume that was some kind of sick sarcasm.
I hope so...I think he/she may be playing off Limbaughs misstatement when he almost called Mayor Nagin a Ni.......
jessica: yeah, you're probably right. I did not hear the Limbaugh misstatement.
Just say no to anonymous posters, James. :-)
oh yeah it sounds like heavy sarcasm to me.

ANYTHING to piss off my husband, who thinks my opinions about helliburton running the country (several, actually) are paranoid ravings.
