This from the L.A. Times:
Rove spoke to Time reporter Matthew Cooper in July 2003, before a syndicated column revealed the identity of operative Valerie Plame, the wife of Bush administration critic and former U.S. Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV.
"What I can tell you is that Cooper called Rove during that week between the Wilson article and the Novak article, but that Karl absolutely did not identify Valerie Plame," Luskin said (Rove's attorney)."He did not disclose any confidential information about anybody to Cooper or to anybody else."
Then there is this from Newsweek:
Luskin told NEWSWEEK that Rove "never knowingly disclosed classified information" and that "he did not tell any reporter that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA." Luskin declined, however, to discuss any other details.
***GOI Comment: Sounds like a 90% confession to me. Knowingly is the key word here. Don't you think that Rove would know if he talked about Valerie Plame? Especially given the interest of this story over the last few years. That's like saying, "I didn't knowingly kill that guy" or "I didn't knowingly steal all those diamonds." "I didn't knowingly lie under oath." I could go on and on with this knowingly stuff. This is just as bad as Clinton saying it depends on what the definition of "Is" is or "I didn't inhale." Except that this leak put our country and CIA operatives at risk given that Plame was working in the field of WMD!!! The leak was an apparent attack of revenge on Joe Wilson who discredited the President's WMD claim. So, it appears that Joe Wilson calling the Bush administration on the WMD claim proves yet again that the intelligence was being fixed about the policy and that brings us back again to the Downing Street memos.
If Rove didn't leak the information then why didn't his lawyer just come out and say that instead of using the word knowingly? If find it damning that Rove talked to one of the reporters who is now under investigation about this leak but he claims he has no involvement in the leak?? I talked to the suspect in question around the time of the leak but I swear I had nothing to do with it.
Hmmm, this whole thing just stinks like rotten garbage.

Yeah, this is going to get good I think.
We will see how all this pans out, but it would need to be explained to me what Rove intended by mentioning Wilson's wife's name to reporters of Time and the NY Times.
I mean, it doesn't make sense that Rove would have expected Time magazine or the N. Y. Times to out a CIA agent on his behalf. In what context would a Time or Times article say "Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame is a CIA operative."??
What is curious to me is What is Novak's explanation for 'generously' outing Plame!? Did Rove give Plame's name to Miller, Cooper, Russert and others to cover a pact between Rove and Novak to punish Wilson for his article?
Thus, Miller, Cooper, Russert, et al, are red herrings?
It will be interesting how this case unspools.
MJ-Yeah, this is quite interesting.
ZU-Yeah, there are a lot of questions to be answered. I just put the Rove theory out there because it seems fishy. I agree that Novak has some serious explaining to do-more then Judith Miller. Go to see you again Tom.
ah, don't you like how they try to trick you by adding the word "knowingly" and hope that the majority of people will miss that?
this will be a great story to watch, but maybe not as excited as the michael jackson trial for the sole fact that there was some crazy lady that was letting doves free everytime a "not guilty" verdit was read. other than that, this story will be better.
