The man, the myth the Legend is dead. Hunter S. Thompson is dead @ age 67 due to suicide. The famed writer fatally shot himself and brought an end to an amazing and famed life. Hunter S. was one of my favorite writers and I will sorely miss his character, style and voice. I would love to pay honor to his memory and perhaps that way will be dressing up as him for Halloween every now and then. I have always felt a certain familiarity with Hunter S. and with him leaving I feel a piece of myself leaving with him.
Rest in peace sweet Prince.
Come back to us soon.

I only read fear & loathing in las vegas, but it was great. My personal preferrence goes to Burroughs of Naked Lunch, but HST I need to read more of...
Any suggestions?
When I heard this is was so unaffected...like "Why am I not surprised...?"
he is now a male Sylvia Plath....
sad.....
I do hope HST isn't a male Sylvia Plath, in the same way I would want Sylvia Plath to stop being a female Sylvia Plath.
By that I mean, I really don't want Hunter's or Sylvia's suicide to color their writing with a dark, sad overlay. But that may be forever unavoidable.
Fear & Loathing is such an insane, confident rollercoaster ride, I had to think of it as sad.
Whoops. Typo. I shoulda said ... I HATE to think of it as sad.
I will miss him ... BIG HUG for Juan, Jen, Willam and Anita… who will never be able to fill the hole left in there lives by the man in spite of the myth and legend attached to his life..
