I am so excited about this guy and I am not even from Illinois. I am going to be following him over his career to be sure. God, I sound like some kind of groupie but DAMN I just really believe in this guy. Whenever I hear him speak I get chills and I think that his message is so clear and strong. He is a total breath of fresh air into politics and especially to the democratic party. I must admit that the democratic party has kind of gone stiffer then a well, YOU knowwwww.
Ahem, soooo anyway I think that people like Obama and John Edwards represent the new generation of democrats and I do think it is only a matter of time before we see a President Obama. Whew. Doesn't just sound awesome?! I haven't ever been more excited about a politician then Barack Obama. However, I do not look for him to run for the White House in 2008. Because according to the Chicago Sun Times Obama is not going for the job anytime soon.
Obama: "So look, I can unequivocally say I will not be running for national office in four years, and my entire focus is making sure that I'm the best possible senator on behalf of the people of Illinois. Look, I'm a state senator who hasn't even been sworn in yet," Obama said." My understanding is that I will be ranked 99th in seniority. ... I'm going to be spending the first several months of my career in the U.S. Senate looking for the washroom and trying to figure out how the phones work."
Hehe. All that talent, brains and coolness and he's humble too (swoon). Damn, I should just get it over and find a poster of the man, light some candles and start a shrine. I think he'll run for President in 2012 though and when he does I'll be the first to sign on and support him. I'll probably sell off our cars to help fund this campaign (Oh wait, I need at least one car so I can plaster "Obama 4 Prez." stickers all over it). I think he has the potential in becoming the next (dare I say it) Franklin D. Roosevelt (runs around the room in circles from the excitement and anticipation. Then runs smack into a wall).
Okkkkkkk I better end this post and take some Ativan before I go streaking through the streets in my boxer briefs yelling O-BA-MA!!! O-BA-MA!!!
P.S.-A BIG happy birthday to my dear friend Holly. :)

james,
I'm excited about Obama, too. I am sending him my good energy. I think he has what it takes - bright, articulate, sincerity, philosophy, humility, depth, comprehension of multiple humanitarian issues. I feel very hopeful.
Probably no need for ativan - this excitement is to be enjoyed!
