Kerry Won the Debate

I think it is clear to everyone that Kerry won the first debate tonight and put to rest doubts on questions about his leadership ability. Kerry looked more presidential then President Bush and even had better posture! President Bush kept hunching over and standing more like a back-alley, pan-handling bum then a president.

Kerry also sounded more versed then Bush on the issues. I felt like I was listening to a well-spoken professor of International Relations when listening to Senator Kerry. President Bush, however, sounded like a broken record. His only come back to Kerry's barrage of facts, examples and solutions was to constantly state that Kerry was "sending mixed messages." He kept stubbornly hammering the same negative attacks on Kerry. In doing so, Bush insinuated that consistency is more important then being right! Kerry also had an excellent and superior grasp on historical issues of foreign policy and how they affect our present day. Such as stating that invading Iraq after 9/11 was like FDR invading Mexico after Pear Harbor. Ouch.

I think the best line of the night from Kerry, however, came during the subject of Afghanistan and how Osama bin Laden slipped away. Sen. Kerry stated, "Unfortunately he escaped in the mountains of Tora Bora. We had him surrounded. But we didn't use American forces -- the best trained in the world -- to go kill him. The president relied on Afghan warlords -- and he out-sourced that job too. That's wrong."

Polls are always a bit suspect to me but I figured I would post some of the instant polls found on various news sites because they show whelmingly that people saw Kerry as the winner tonight.

The bottom line here is that Senator John Kerry debated circles around Bush and showed that he deserves to be the next President of the United States of America. Bush showed himself to be a dangerously, bumbling idiot who couldn't lead his way out of a phone booth.
