**I got this email about Amendment 36 in Colorado and I decided to show my support for this amendment by posting it here on my blog**
(1) Take back power with Amendment 36. Do you think George Bush losing the popular vote but winning the ElectoralCollege in 2000 was right? (I think I hear a resounding NO!) If you feel the people's choice should be President, then vote for Amendment 36 on November 2. Amendment 36 will change Colorado's electoral vote allocation from winner-take-all to a proportional method based on the percentage of the popular vote each candidate receives. Democracy for Colorado is proud to endorse this important initiative, and we urge everyone to help ensure that it passes. You can help right now by sending a letterto the editor urging Coloradans to support Amendment 36.
We can't get rid of the Electoral College without amending the U.S. Constitution, but each state can decide how to allocate its electoral votes, and we can make Colorado's votes proportional to the popular vote.Think about what can happen to turnout if everyone knows every vote counts! Governor Owens is vowing to tap his wealthy friends to defeat Amendment 36. He says it will make Colorado "irrelevant."That doesn't make sense: even if Colorado is a "swingstate," how can he say a few electoral votes are irrelevant? The 2000 race was decided by just 5 electoral votes! Let's take back power for Colorado voters by passing Amendment 36!

If everyone took such an interest in democracy the world would be so much better -- cliched but true, as usual... Will keep reading - we all get the same American news here in the UK so it's interesting having an insider's perspective!
ok, I'm on my brother's computer, but that was me, kt!
Thanks kt for the comment. I couldn't agree with you more. I wish more people would get involved in their countries politics and vote. Voting and being informed are the two most important duties of citizens in a democracy.
